President Erdogan and Saudi King Salman has a telephone conversation to discuss bilateral relations

ANKARA: In the time less than a month, President Recep Tayyip Erdoانan and King Salman of Saudi Arabia have had a telephone conversation.

Both the leaders discussed ways to further strengthen ties between Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Turkish Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said in a statement that the two leaders decided to further enhance cooperation in various fields.

Saudi Arabia wants to further improve relations with Turkey, as relations between the two countries soured following the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi embassy in Ankara.

Following Turkey's accusation, Saudi Arabia boycotted Turkish products unannounced, leading to a dramatic 98% drop in Turkey's exports to Saudi Arabia.

Last April, President Erdogan and Saudi King Shah Salman had a telephone conversation in which it was decided to hold a formal meeting between the Foreign Ministers of the two countries.

President Erdogan and King Salman had a telephone conversation today, while Top Turkish and Egyptian officials also met on May 4.
